I get to ask a lot of people to help at church. It’s part of my job description and I enjoy helping get people committed to service. I know what service to the church and God has done for me and I want others to get that chance and have that experience.
I get a lot of answers during the course of asking people to serve. I love it when I hear “yes” and I’m even totally cool with “No”.
I have heard recently this however “I’m praying for God to show me where He wants me, so I’m trying not to get in His way”.
While I love the fact that you are wanting to know where God wants you, I’ll let you in on something. He is totally cool with you working the Fair or greeting/waving in the meantime.
Prayer is super important in a Christians life. Maybe even the most important thing you can do after accepting Jesus.
Please though don’t use it as an excuse to not help out at your church.
In all things pray, but in the meantime work.
We work and we serve God here while we can because He wants us to, and because we want to delight him. Don’t let your free time get in the way of your purpose.
The Bible says, “In our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10b TEV). These “good deeds” are your service to the world. Whenever you serve others in any way, you are actually serving God and fulfilling one of your purposes (Colossians 3:23-24)
In just a couple weeks we are going to be working the gates at the county fair. We were blessed to be able to do it last year. They asked again and we said yes. The sign up sheets still have a lot of space left on them. We desperately need workers. If you have signed up I urge you to work an extra shift if you can. If you haven't signed up please do so. It’s just a few hours and it means so much to the orphans.
I don’t want anyone to pass up this opportunity because they don’t understand what we gain for the kingdom thru this.
We are receiving a certain amount of money to work the fair. Each person that works one shift will make enough to feed 1 orphan for 1 whole month. Together and only together can we feed an entire orphanage for 3 months. Do you understand what that means for these children that God Loves?
I met some of these kids a couple years ago and it was heartbreaking. Some of them literally didn’t know if they would eat the next day. The lady that ran one of the orphanages we visited has to struggle to figure out how to keep these kids alive.
Not in new shoes, not in new clothes, or toys, not happy, not even healthy ALIVE is her actual concern.

I want to leave you with this Matthew Chapter 25: 34-40
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[a] you were doing it to me!’
